Backup jobs complete with warning in logs

Hello,

Although my backup jobs are running successfully and I’m able to restore from them without issues, I keep seeing the following warning in the logs:

bacularis-dir JobId 1300: Warning: Encoding error for database "bacula". Wanted SQL_ASCII, got UTF8.

From what I understand, this is just a warning and doesn't prevent the backup process from completing properly. However, it's a bit annoying to see it repeatedly in the logs.

Do you have any thoughts on how to address or suppress this warning?

Hello @sistemas,

For PostgreSQL catalog, Bacula supports database encoding SQL_ASCII. This is to avoid any encoding while putting and getting data from/to database.

This warning is to let you know that your database uses wrong encoding (UTF8) instead of SQL_ASCII. To not display this warning, you need to change the encoding to SQL_ASCII.
