Job edit Error 94

Hello again,

whenever I try to edit a job in Bacularis, I get this error:

Error Error 94: Config validation error.Array ( [output] => JSON tool returned wrong exitcode. Output:bacula-dir: ERROR TERMINATION at lex.c:889 Config error: expected a string, got T_EOL: = : line 75, col 11 of file /etc/bacularis/API/config_shtaA7 Where = 19-Feb 08:44 bacula-dir: ERROR TERMINATION at lex.c:889 Config error: expected a string, got T_EOL: = : line 75, col 11 of file /etc/bacularis/API/config_shtaA7 Where = [exitcode] => 82 )

And I mean everytime, even when I edit jobs that worked before.

I don't remember how or when this happened, but I first noticed when I wanted to edit a restore job of mine.
I remember having filled the "Where" part with the path that the data should be restored on, but it is not there anymore and so I tried correcting it, which doesn't work anymore. 🙁

When I try to run the restore job now, it has no errors, but it doesn't generate the restored data anymore, even though I manually enter the path during the Restore process. I suppose it correlates with my error?
My backup jobs still work normally, even though they also get this error.

Hello @Hose12,

Could you show us output from the following console command:

bdirjson -r Job -n YOUR_RESTORE_JOB_NAME

In place YOUR_RESTORE_JOB_NAME please put the name of the restore job you are trying to save. For example for restore job name RestoreFiles the command is the following:

bdirjson -r Job -n RestoreFiles

Hello gani,

I might be dumb rn, but where do I use the command?
I tried putting it in Bacula under / and under the same directory as bacula-dir.conf, as well as using the bconsole.
But it always returns "Invalid command." :/

Hello @Hose12,

Sure, no worries. This means that the Bacula JSON tools are not in the system PATH directory.

In this case please log in to the Bacularis API panel:

http://YOUR_BACULARIS_HOST:9097/panel/settings/

Then please go to the Config tab. In the field with label bdirjson binary file path you will see the full path of the bdirjson program that you defined during the Bacularis installation.

You can use this path to execute bdirjson with the parameters described in my previous message in this thread.

Please also note that your command may require providing one additional parameter that is the Bacula configuration file. You can see in on the same Bacularis API panel page in field Main Director config file path (usually bacula-dir.conf).

At the end, please use bdirjson in a way similar to the following:

/some/path/bdirjson -c /another/path/bacula-dir.conf -r Job -n YOUR_RESTORE_JOB_NAME

One more note to be clear for a case if you are trying to use it in Bconsole. This is command executed in system command line, not in Bconsole 🙂

Great. Thanks for providing this output.

Yes, the null is definitelly wrong value there. It looks that in your bacula-dir.conf in the Job mssql_restore_job is a value that causes displaying null in bdirjson.

Could you show to us how the Job mssql_restore_job resource looks in your bacula-dir.conf? This should answer on the question why in bdirjson is displayed null.

Thanks. I was able to reproduce this null value in bdirjson output.

It looks that the StripPrefix directive causes it. Once the directive is removed, the Where directive starts be displayed correctly in bdirjson output.

At the moment I reported it to the Bacula Community bug tracker:

https://gitlab.bacula.org/bacula-community-edition/bacula-community/-/issues/2767

So, workaround for now can be removing the StripPrefix directive.

Please let us know how it is working after this change.

Hello gani,

thank you for your help!
After removing the StripPrefix directive and adding the Where in bacula-dir.conf, it finally applied the changes.
However, if I click on "Save" when editing the same job, even after removing StripPrefix, the same error occures.

But at least it restores the data again 🙂

This is a very good news 🙂

For this error, please check in your bacula-dir.conf if in other Job resources you have the StripPrefix or other File relocation directives (AddPrefix, AddSuffix and RegexWhere) defined together with Where directive. If yes, you will need to remove the File relocation directives or alternativelly if you want to keep them, then please remove the Where directive.

Also good news is that Bacularis protects Bacula configuration and it does not save configuration that is invalid.

After removing all File relocation directives, it works again as usual, meaning I can save my changes via Bacularis again.
