Hi @michaeldolzani
Thank you for your feature request.
Yes, as nowadays Docker and Kubernetes are very popular, so it might be good to have support for that in Bacularis.
The Bacula Community version provides both Docker and Kubernetes plugins already. The Docker plugin is available since 9.6.0
and Kubernetes from 13.0.0
. We can read it here:
Docker plugin:
https://www.bacula.org/15.0.x-manuals/en/main/New_Features_in_9_6_0.html#SECTION005020000000000000000
Kubernetes plugin:
https://www.bacula.org/15.0.x-manuals/en/main/New_Features_in_13_0_0.html#SECTION003010000000000000000
In the bacula.org repositories there are available packages both with Docker and with Kubernetes plugins. I don't know how the availability of these plugins looks in Linux distributions.
For Bacularis, I have to admit that I don't know what additional functions, besides these in existing plugins, could be added and here I would like to ask you and all the Bacularis Community here, that is interested this topic, to share your vision what exactly we would like to have for Docker and Kubernetes in Bacularis. This will help us to see this task wider and help to estimate what could be done and what not, or what could be done in next iterations.
I encourage to share your ideas. Let's do small brainstorming.
For your question about feasibility of this task, I think, I will be able to say more after knowing general needs more accurate.
Thank you in advance for everybody for sharing your opinions.
Best regards,
Marcin Haba (gani)
